Wellbeing Screen

Which STIs does the Wellbeing Screen test for?

The Better2Know Wellbeing Screen is a home test for:

  • HIV
  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhoea

Is the test accurate?

This high accuracy test kit contains a blood test for HIV (99.8% 28 days after any incident you are concerned about, rising to 99.9% after 3 months) and urine test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea.

If you are not sure which STI you may have, or are concerned about a sexual encounter you have had, then our Full STI Screen is recommended as along with the tests above it also tests for other sexually transmitted infections including Hepatitis B and Syphilis.

How does testing work?

The Better2Know Wellbeing Screen is a blood and urine test and the kit contains all the equipment you need to collect your samples at home easily. Once you have placed your order we will post a discreet test pack to the address you provide. The postal pack is plain so no one will know what it is. Inside the pack you will find a form, finger-prick lancets, tubes for blood and urine, a urine collection container, wipes and a return envelope. In addition, we will send you a copy of the sample collection instruction leaflet. The leaflet will give you full step-by-step instructions on how to collect your samples. It is very important that you follow the instructions on the leaflet carefully.

As soon as your results are available you will get an email and you can also log on and check securely online whenever you like.

When will my test arrive?

Order your test before 4pm Monday to Friday and we will post it out to you first class on the same day. Your test kit will normally arrive in 2-4 working days - delivery times may vary depending on where you live.

How long before I get my results?

The results of your Wellbeing Screen should be available within three working days from when your sample arrives at the laboratory.

What happens if my tests are positive and I need treatment?

Better2Know will call you if your HIV result is positive and arrange for you to have a second test (which is included in the price). If your second test is positive then we can help you decide where you want to be referred to for treatment and help you source any other support you need. This can include talking to an HIV specialist consultant and the Terrence Higgins Trust. HIV, when diagnosed early and managed properly, is no longer considered a life threatening illness.

If your Chlamydia and / or Gonorrhoea test is positive, we can arrange an appointment with a Better2Know doctor so that you can discuss the results and get a prescription for the required medication (there will be a small fee for this) or you can take your results to your own GP.

Is testing through Better2Know confidential?

Yes, your test results and your details are completely confidential. We will not inform your doctor or anyone without your permission.

How long should I wait after potential exposure before getting a Wellbeing Screen?

You should wait 28 days since your potential exposure before having a Wellbeing Screen. You can buy the test kit whenever you like, but you should not collect your samples until this time.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will you send my kit to me?

If your order is placed before 4pm on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.

Q: Why do you need my email address?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.

Q: Do I need to use my real name?

No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.

Q: What does the kit packaging look like?

It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.

Q: What if I have any more questions?

You can email Louise by replying to one of the emails she has sent to you. She will do her best to answer them.
