What is included in the Better2Know Prostate Health Check?

  • Total PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen)

What is the PSA Test?

PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) is a protein that most men will have a small amount of in their blood. It is produced by both normal and cancerous prostate cells. A raised level may indicate a problem with your prostate but does not mean that you have prostate cancer. This test is a blood test that looks for and measures the amount of Prostate Specific Antigen in your blood.

How does this test work?

Simply order your test from the panel on the right. We will post your kit to you. It will contain everything you need to collect a small blood sample in the comfort of your own home. The test needs you to collect a small amount of blood by pricking your finger with a lancet. Please follow the step-by-step instructions for collecting your blood very carefully. These will be sent to you via email. Then, post your sample back to us in the pre-paid envelope provided. We will email you your results as soon as they are ready.

When will I receive my test kit?

Order your kit before 4pm on a normal working weekday (Monday to Friday) and we will post out to you on the same day, first class. Orders placed at other times will be dispatched the next working day. Depending on where you live, you will receive your kit in 2 to 4 working days.

What do my results mean?

This test cannot diagnose prostate cancer. It can give you an early indication that you may need to have further tests. PSA level usually rises naturally as men get older. The normal range is 3 to 5 ng/ml of blood. People with prostate cancer tend to have a PSA level in the hundreds of thousands ng/ml. If you are within the normal range then you do not need to have any more tests. If you are outside the normal range then you can speak to one of our doctors on the telephone (there will be a small charge for this) or take the results to your own doctor. They will be able to advise you on the appropriate next steps.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will you send my kit to me?

If your order is placed before 4pm on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.

Q: Why do you need my email address?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.

Q: Do I need to use my real name?

No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.

Q: What does the kit packaging look like?

It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.

Q: What if I have any more questions?

You can email Louise by replying to one of the emails she has sent to you. She will do her best to answer them.
