Coeliac Gliadin Antibodies Testing

What is Gliadin?

Gliadin is a protein present in gluten, which is found in grains such as barley, rye, and wheat. Gluten intolerance is a sign of Coeliac Disease.

People with Coeliac disease or genetic predispositions to gluten allergies experience an immune response once Gliadin enters their systems. Their bodies view gluten as a foreign substance and produces antibodies to attack it as though fighting off an infection. This causes inflammation and long-term damage to the small intestine, which can result in poor nutrition absorption.

Coeliacs can suffer from many symptoms, including:

  • Diarrhoea
  • Bloating
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Flatulence or excess wind

Since Gliadin can appear for reasons unrelated to gluten intolerance, this test is often taken in conjunction with the TTA IgA test for more accurate results.

Why consider a Gliadin Antibody test?

The Gliadin Antibody test identifies the presence of gliadin antibodies, which can help diagnose Coeliac Disease. This test in conjunction with the TTA IgA test will help you diagnose and treat Coeliac Disease if you have symptoms or a family history of it.

Q: Why do you need my email address?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.

Q: Do I need to use my real name?

No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.

It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.

Q: What if I have any more questions?
