What does the HRT profile do?

Some people’s bodies are missing certain hormones, but these hormones can be replaced through Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). For our purposes, HRT refers to the replacement of hormones lost by women either before or after the onset of menopause. This test is meant for those who currently take HRT medication. This medication should restore your abnormal hormone levels and improve symptoms including sleep disturbance, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, low mood, low sex drive, night sweats, and irritability. The HRT profile determines whether a woman’s hormones are well-balanced whilst taking HRT medication and therefore ensures proper treatment of systems with missing hormones.

This test needs a blood sample collected by a medical professional such as a nurse or doctor.

Explain the Better2Know home test process?

The HRT test kit arrives as a package at your door. It includes tools to collect your blood sample at home before sending it to one of our accredited Ireland labs using the pre-paid postage provided. Once the sample arrives at our lab, we analyse it and relay your confidential results regarding your health via your secure patient portal and phone or email.

When will my test kit arrive?

When your order your test kit before end of workday Monday-Friday, your package is sent out the same day. You can even track your package by selecting Special Delivery at checkout. The kit should arrive between 2 to 4 days, depending on where you live.

How do I get my test results?

Within one workday of your sample arriving at our laboratory, your HRT test results will be ready. As soon as they are available, a member of our Patient Services team will contact you directly to discuss your results. In addition, you may check your secure patient portal on our website at any time. Your results will immediately be listed in the portal once they are ready.

What should I do about my test results?

These test results will relay whether your FSH, progesterone, and oestradiol 17-beta levels are optimal. If your results indicate an imbalance of hormones, we recommend you speak to a healthcare professional to ensure your medication is working and alleviate your symptoms. Better2Know can assist you in arranging a consultation with a private doctor from our network of skilled professionals across Ireland. You can also speak to your GP about your results. This meeting will help you determine the best next steps and treatment options.

Q: When will you send my kit to me?

If your order is placed before 4pm on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.

Q: Why do you need my email address?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.

Q: Do I need to use my real name?

No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.

Q: What does the kit packaging look like?

It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.

Q: What if I have any more questions?

You can email Louise by replying to one of the emails she has sent to you. She will do her best to answer them.
