Peace of Mind

What does the Peace of Mind Screen test for?

The Better2Know Peace of Mind Screen is a home test for the following STIs / STDs:

  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhoea
  • Syphilis

Is this an accurate test?

Yes, this is a very accurate test for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea and Syphilis. It is a blood and urine test and is a CE quality marked test.

If you are not sure which STI you may have or are concerned about a risky encounter, we suggest you choose our Full STI Screen which tests for a range of sexually transmitted diseases including those listed above.

How does this test work?

This is a blood and urine test kit for use at home. As soon as your order is completed online we will post a discreet Peace of Mind test pack to the address you have provided. The postal pack is plain so no one will know what it is. When you open the pack you will find everything you need to take your samples yourself: a form; three finger-prick lancets; a small gold-top tube; a urine collection container; a pack of wipes; and a prepaid return envelope. In addition, we will send you a copy of the sample collection instruction leaflet. The leaflet will give you clear instructions on how to collect your sample easily. It is important that you follow the instructions on the leaflet carefully.

As soon as your results are available you will get an email to notify you, and you can log on securely and check online whenever you like.

When will my test kit arrive?

Order your test kit before 4pm Monday to Friday and we will post it to you the same day by first class post. Your test should normally arrive within 2 to 4 days - delivery times may vary depending on where you live.

How long before I get my Peace of Mind test results?

The results of your tests should be ready within three days from when your samples arrive at the laboratory.

What happens if my test shows I have an STI?

Don't worry, all of the STDs and STIs in the Peace of Mind Screen are curable. Better2Know can arrange for you to speak to one of our doctors on the telephone. Our doctor can write you a prescription (there will be a small charge for this) and arrange for any medicines to be sent to you. Alternatively you can take the results to your own doctor.

Is testing for STIs through Better2Know confidential?

Yes, your results and your details are always completely confidential with Better2Know. We will not inform your doctor or anyone without your permission.

How long should I wait after an encounter before getting a Peace of Mind screen?

You should wait at least 14 days since any incident you are concerned about before getting a Peace of Mind Test. If you test before this time, the test may not be as accurate as it can be. You can order your test kit now, but should wait 14 days before taking your samples.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will you send my kit to me?

If your order is placed before 4pm on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.

Q: Why do you need my email address?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.

Q: Do I need to use my real name?

No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.

Q: What does the kit packaging look like?

It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.

Q: What if I have any more questions?

You can email Louise by replying to one of the emails she has sent to you. She will do her best to answer them.
