Which infections does the STI Four Screen test for?
The STI Four Screen will detect:
- HIV
- Syphilis
- Chlamydia
- Gonorrhoea
Is the STI Four Screen accurate?
Yes, testing with Better2Know is extremely efficient and highly accurate. All our home tests are CE marked and pathology is conducted by our fully certified laboratory.
How does this STI screen work?
Once you have ordered your STI Four Screen, we will post your kit to the address you have provided. The packaging will be plain to ensure your confidentiality. In your parcel, you will find a prepaid return envelope, a pathology form, three finger prick lancets, a small gold topped tube, a urine collection container and wipes. All the necessary documentation will already have been completed for you so all you need to do is use the sample collection kit to take the required blood and urine samples, before sending them to our accredited laboratory in the envelope provided. Better2Know’s Patient Services team will email you with instructions detailing how to collect your samples; it is important to follow this guidance carefully.
When will my test arrive?
We will post your home test kit on the same day if you order it before 4pm, Monday to Friday. Depending on where you live in Ireland, your kit should arrive no later than three working days after placing your order.
How long before I get my results?
Once our certified laboratory has received your samples, we will report your results within two working days. Our experienced sexual health advisors will contact you when all your results are ready, unless you specify otherwise. You can also keep track of your results when they become available by using your secure patient area on the Better2Know website. Simply log in to view them when it is convenient for you.
What happens if my STI test is positive?
Our trained sexual health advisors will provide guidance and support throughout your patient journey. If your screen is positive for Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea, your advisor can schedule a private doctor’s consultation for you to discuss your diagnosis. Your Better2Know doctor will be able to provide a prescription for the medication you require.
If your tests for HIV or Syphilis are reactive, Better2Know will contact you to organise a confirmatory test. If the second test for Syphilis is positive, Better2Know’s Patient Services team can arrange a private consultation, where you can discuss your diagnosis in detail and receive a prescription for the medication you require. Should the confirmatory test for HIV also come back positive, we will refer you to a specialised service that can offer further advice and treatment options.
Is testing for STIs through Better2Know confidential?
Your results and details are completely confidential. We will not share your information with a third party without your permission, unless we are legally required to do so.
How long should I wait after an encounter before getting the STI Four Screen?
A 28-day period of incubation is required for the Better2Know STI Four Screen. If you test within this time, then your results may not be as accurate as they can be.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When will you send my kit to me?
If your order is placed before 4pm on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.
Q: Why do you need my email address?
Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.
Q: Do I need to use my real name?
No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.
Q: What does the kit packaging look like?
It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.
Q: What if I have any more questions?
You can email Louise by replying to one of the emails she has sent to you. She will do her best to answer them.
