Testing for Coeliac Disease Tissue Transglutaminase IgA

What is the Tissue Transglutaminase IgA antibody test?

People who possess a genetic predisposition to Coeliac Disease produce antibodies called Tissue Transglutaminase Antibodies (TTAs). When Coeliac Disease causes the body to identify gluten proteins as foreign substances, a response from the immune system is triggered in which antibodies are sent to attack the foreign matter. This results in inflammation and long-term damage of the small intestine, which can cause further issues with time.

Wheat, rye, and barley contain gluten. Many believe that relatives of a person with Coeliac Disease are at an increased risk of developing the disorder.

Those with Coeliac Disease may suffer from a variety of symptoms, including:

  • Flatulence or excess wind
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Bloating
  • Diarrhoea

Our TTA test is a sensitive method for diagnosing Coeliac Disease. For more accurate results and analysis, we often use the gliadin test in conjunction with the TTA test.

Why consider a Gluten Intolerance Test?

The Better2Know test on its own or in addition to the gliadin test can help if you suffer from any of the symptoms or are related to someone with Coeliac Disease. Once you know more, we can help you schedule consultations with a nutritionist or doctor to further discuss and manage this disease.

Q: Why do you need my email address?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.
