Testing for Omegas 3 and 6

What are Omega 3 and Omega 6?

Omegas 3 and 6 are fatty acids essential to your health. A deficiency in one or both acids can cause mood swings and fatigue. In addition, low Omega levels can result in more severe health conditions such as circulatory issues or depression.

Although our bodies do not naturally produce Omega 3 or Omega 6, they make vital contributions to memory retention, blood pressure regulation, and cell rotation. They also help prevent heart disease and protect against certain cancers.

There is an optimal balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6 which should be maintained. If there is too much Omega 6 present, your body may not be able to manage inflammation as well as usual. Foods with high levels of Omegas 3 and 6 include seeds, nuts, and some cooking oils.

Explain the Better2Know home test process?

Our Omegas 3 and 6 test kit uses a blood sample to determine your fatty acid levels. You will receive the kit as a package sent directly to your home. Using the tools included in the kit, you will collect your blood sample and send it to one of our accredited Ireland labs via the pre-paid postage envelope provided. You will receive our sample collection guide with specific instructions regarding your blood sample collection. Once the sample reaches our lab, we will conduct an efficient and accurate analysis.

When does my home test kit arrive?

If you order your kit before 4pm Monday-Friday, Better2Know will dispatch the package that same day via An Post. You may select Special Delivery at checkout if you wish to track your package. It should reach you between 2 to 4 days after it arrives at the lab, depending on your location.

How do I get my test results?

Within four workdays of your sample’s arrival at our lab, your test results will be ready. A member of our team will contact you directly via phone or email to relay your results. In addition, you are welcome to check your secure patient portal on our website at any time. Once the results are ready, they will be listed in your confidential portal.

What should I do about my test results?

If your results indicate suboptimal levels of Omegas 3 and 6, you may have a deficiency and need proper treatment. Diet changes and supplements are common natural solutions, but if abnormal levels persist, you should speak with a doctor. Better2Know can help arrange a consultation with a doctor from our network of skilled healthcare professionals across Ireland. You can meet to discuss your concerns either before taking the Omegas 3 and 6 Test or after you receive your results.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will you send my kit to me?

If your order is placed before 4pm on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.

Q: Why do you need my email address?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.

Q: Do I need to use my real name?

No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.

Q: What does the kit packaging look like?

It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.

Q: What if I have any more questions?

You can email Louise by replying to one of the emails she has sent to you. She will do her best to answer them.
